2007-01-31 - 6:29 p.m. i keep putting off writing in the diary lots of things going through my mind, but many of them aren’t things i want to share with everyone who reads i have given some thought to starting another diary – i know a few people that did this – and only giving out the url to a select few, if any (ok, if i’m not going to give it out to anyone, then i might just as well pick up a pencil and write on paper and put it in a drawer) but, even the idea of starting anew isn’t all that exciting – not much is exciting to me right now i’m in a funk, have been there for a while and don’t see the proverbial light and, now to top everything, the month i most dislike is about to start – february that dreaded february it has nothing good going for it, except that it’s shorter than other months but, it’s dark and cold and boring i know it’s not as cold here as there, but it’s just as dark and boring and you know what, it’s very cool – i walk around with several layers on most of the time i was talking to someone today about the month o’ february and she said that they have a big holiday in late march in tehran (not a religious holiday), but an even older than any religious holidays which celebrates the zodiac – basically, they are celebrating spring now, this holiday isn’t until march 21, but they start getting busy for it in february, thereby distracting themselves with busyness (i think it involves a lot of baking and such) kind of like how we start working on christmas right after thanksgiving, though most stores start after halloween, if they are putting restraints on themselves – i think most just start right after the school supplies are gone in august i don’t have a march holiday to celebrate – i don’t celebrate st pat’s day – i don’t have a need to get drunk on my ass, throw up and have vial headaches the next day (anymore, thank you) i’ve looked at the calendar and there are a few notations – 3/3 = purim begins at sundown, 3/11 = daylight saving time begins – thanks the gods that be for this, 3/18 = mothering sunday in the uk, 3/19 = canberra day in australia and then 3/21 = vernal equinox i don’t think i’ll be celebrating purim, since i don’t even celebrate my own religion’s holy days i don’t think i’ll be celebrating mothering sunday, as i’m not a mother i can throw down for daylight saving time with some glee cuz this means the beloved sun will soon be staying out longer and longer each day and i can roll this into some happiness for the vernal equinox i looked up canberra day – according to wikipedia it’s a public holiday held annually on the 3rd monday of march in the australian capital territory to celebrate the official naming of canberra (it’s a big city in australia) ok, they must be very hard up for a reason to celebrate in march if they are celebrating the naming of cities maybe we could do that – two cities per month – the capital and then the big city in the state – you know, like in illinois – springfield and chicago, in new york – albany and new york city, in california – sacramento and la or sf and i’m sure there are many other states where the bigger city is not the capital. ok, so if we celebrate 2 cities per state and we have, what, 50 states – i always have to stop and think – is it 50 states and 52 cards/deck or visa versa let’s go with the 50 states and we celebrate 2 city names per state, then we have a nice even tidy number of 100 new holidays – that would be 8.333 holidays per month, or if december is too busy with xmas and the upcoming new years, then we could go with 9.09 (oh just round it to 9) new holidays a month using just 11 months - and, if we had to take the day off for these new holidays (not just the ones in your own state, but let’s be pc and honor all city naming holidays, the we could have plenty more holidays during the year wow, what would i do with 9 extra days off each month – really, that is not something i have to give much thought towards – i would just totally enjoy them --- i had to change health insurance providers because i couldn’t afford the ppo anymore – between the premium and the cost i had to cover for some tests that the insurance company only wanted to pay a few dollars towards, it wasn’t working so, i’ve switched to an hmo and i’m going with a doctor that a friend highly recommended i went for the first visit a few weeks ago and he asked me what i thought of preventive medicine i told him i supported the theory, but maybe not so much the reality (if we are going to be honest – i haven’t seen a doctor in 3 years, so i don’t think i’m doing much in the preventive mode) so, i’m going to get the usual blood tests, breast squishing test, and stick probing/stomach pressing tests done – and, i’ve scheduled all of these and, then he dropped the colonoscopy test on me – yeah, i don’t think so even he admitted that he put off doing it for over a year until he got his confidence up about it i’ve now talked to a few people who have had it, and, really they didn’t sell it - though each and every one of them told me that the test wasn’t the problem, it was the prep - ~sigh~ though, i will say, the drug sounds good – you get to sleep for several hours uninterrupted - the test might be worth it just for some uninterrupted sleep i’m thinking about it and i’m carrying the paperwork around with me – just in case i get motivated to throw in a call and set it up – but, really when your own doctor tells you he put it off for over a year, does he really think your going to run out to do it they gave me a dvd to watch to prepare – i’m suppose to give it back to them after the test – i hope they have extra copies well, it’s time to take off for ceramic’s class – that is something i enjoy, so this could be fun and, the finale of top chef is on tonight with the new decorationg show starting directly after – whoo hoo oh, you know, there are some good things happening in february – amazing race comes back and so does survivor i’m not liking apprentice this year and even though i’ve had it on – i keep falling asleep during it ok, i’m out of here later days!
